 These new options which include Background Images, Photographic Exposure, Transparency and much more are all available in various views such Sections, Elevations, Perspective and isometric 3D views for Hidden Line, Shaded, Consistent Colors and Realistic visual styles. You can also save these settings to a View Template to apply it to other views. These are all features used to enhance the visual effect of the views but do not require 'Rendering'.
